Do you guarantee your work? For how long? What
does the guarantee cover?
We guarantee our work for the paint coat we apply,
based on the good preparation we do and the factory
warranty of the paint. The lifetime of a paint job is completely dependent
on the warranty of the paint, the surface and overall wear. The key to a long lasting paint job is keeping on top of the small problems before they become large problems.
Please ask Peter for additional details.
Who supervises the painting?
We provide a crew
and a foreman on site at all times. Peter
visits the site every day and is part of the work as
much as possible (you have his cell phone
number for easy access).
Why are 2 coats superior to 1 coat?
All paint manufacturers require two coats of paint vs.
one coat, to obtain their warranty. Most of the time we
recommend two coats, although there are some limited
exceptions. We recommend three coats for all new
wood and drywall and only one coat for a simple
clean-up using the same color only.
Will the price go up once work is started?
No. We will perform all work as specified in the
contract for the contract price. Of course, you may
add extra work for an additional charge that is
agreed on up front.
Do you have a license and insurance?
Yes. Our Westchester, New York state license number is
WC-16120-H05.
This license also extends to doing work in the state of
Connecticut. Please contact us if you'd like a copy
of our certificate of insurance.
Can I check your references?
Yes. Included with the painting proposal will be an
extensive list of names/addresses/phone numbers.
Can you help me with colors?
Yes. We provide up to 1h professional color consultation at
no charge to all our clients.
No. Our trustworthy staff is fully insured. At the times you will be gone from the house, we will need to arrange access to facilitate the painting process.
What precautions are taken to protect my plants
during exterior painting?
We will use extreme care to tie back and/or cover
your plants to avoid damage during the painting
process. Any help from the owner to trim back
plants and trees will help facilitate a thorough and
timely painting project.
We recommend to have no plants closer than 12" from
the house for optimum results.
What precautions are taken to protect my belongings during interior painting?
We are very careful with all your valuables when we do interior painting services.
Interior painting requires specific preparations before the painting begins:
- All breakable items should be removed in advance in a different room. If not, we are more than happy to help to remove them.
- We move the furniture to the middle of the room so that it's at least 3 feet away from the walls and the ceiling, and we cover it with new plastic and dropcloth at no additional cost.
- For an additional agreed-upon fee, we can also help you hang back pictures, remove window treatment brackets and picture hooks from walls, and move small items back in their original place.
- We also cover the floor with new plastic and dropcoth, and we ask you to be careful as you walk on it.
- To protect your new, just-finished floors, we install contractor red paper, and over it a dropcloth.
How disruptive is painting my house?
While painting is a significant process for your
home, we will do all we can to minimize noise, dust,
and disruption. Our daily clean-ups go a long way to
achieve this goal.
Do I need to be concerned about lead paint and
if so, what can I do to insure safety?
If your house was built before 1978, you should be concerned about lead
paint.
Peter and his crew are licensed and certified to test the surface coats of paint and perform lead-related painting services. To verify certification call 800/597-LEAD.
If lead paint is found, we recommend keeping children and pets away from work areas at all time.
What is your payment policy?
Our payment policy is standard:
1/3 downpayment on signing the contract
1/3 when the painting is half way done
1/3 balance due upon completion and inspection
For jobs over $15,000 payments should be made weekly, based on the progress of the work.
What if I notice a problem with the paint job
after it’s been completed and paid for?
European American Decorative Painting Ltd.
takes pride in timely and thorough responses to any
problems.
If you have any problems and concerns, please
